Camping and Crablegs

So for Memorial Day Weekend Jake and I went to Marysville, UT with Janell and Burk and camped. It was so nice and warm. The boys fished and Janell and I just kinda hung out and we found this fun little antique shop. I bought a little gold watch for $3.00. haha. I love it though. It's my souvenir from the weekend. We played this washer throwing game that we found at wal-mart like twenty times, but it is seriously like the most fun game. Then that night we went to this gas station that has been turned into a "restaurant". Jake and I had been there a year ago with his brother and some of their friends so that's why we decided to go back. They have unlimited crab legs and these giant servings of prime rib for pretty cheap and it is amaaaaaazing! It looks like the most white trash place ever, but I kid you not, it is sooooo good. I think I literally ate 25 crab legs (on top of everything else they give you). Ask Jake.
Anyway, then on Sunday, Janell and Burke had to head back, but Taylor and Devo wanted to come camping, so we headed back to Jake's family's house in Holden. They met us there, but the weather started getting bad and it was freezing! So...we ended up just having a fire and cooked hot dogs and smores there. It was really fun actually, but I don't have any pictures from it. Hopefully we'll get a good camping trip planned with all of our friends soon!

All of the Lights

So this weekend, a bunch of us went to...wait for it....Allure. Yeah, we did.
Haha, it was actually pretty fun. They have really good music, and how can you not love the light up dance floor? Not to mention, amaaaaazing people watching. I highly recommend it for that reason alone. Also, they have tons of screens which you can watch music videos on. I rarely see music videos anymore unless someone tells me to watch it or I look the song up on youtube for some reason. I swear I just stared at the screens or the crazy people dancing around me all night. Very interesting. Ha. Good times.

Jake's Birthday

Last weekend I had a birthday party for Jake because he is in Boston this weekend and will be gone for his actual birthday. He is turning 30! Old man! JK! Anyway, we went to eat and then out for some dancing and fun in Salt Lake. A bunch of our friends came and it was a pretty fun time. If you didn't come you missed out! :) Thanks to everyone that came!

Kale's Birthday

Tuesday we went to Airbourne Jump Arena for Kale's Birthday. It was perfect because they have a whole section for little kids and then they have a huge area for older people. They have a dodgeball jump court that was sooo fun. Jake and the guys were dripping sweat when they were done. Janell, Kellie, and I weren't quite that into it.
We had pizza and I got Kale a "Woody and Buzz" cake. Then he opened all his presents. I'm pretty sure he had a pretty fun 4th birthday. Such a cute kid. Love that little guy. He was smiling the whole way up in the car and didn't want to go home. :)
Happy Birthday Kale Boy!

Girls Night Out

Last weekend, Janell and I attended an organized "Girls Night Out" at Pierpont Place up in Salt Lake. It was actually really fun. They had food, dancing, a raffle, and then things like manicures, pedicures, henna, feather extensions, etc. Janell and I both won things and then just hung out with all these random people all night. There were quite a few "older" women having the time of their lives on the dance floor. (I wish I had video).
However, I got into a conversation with one lady who kept telling me how beautiful we were and not to throw it away, but she did give me some advice that I thought about for a while. She was telling me to enjoy my youth and not waste it etc, but the thing that stuck out to me was when she said if she could tell me anything it was, to "Be Choosey". I feel like this probably is a very good thing to remember. I guess it just made me think a lot lately because I am making some big decisions about school and dating and etc. I feel like this is the time in my life where it is important for me to be choosey more than any other time, because this is the time in my life where I can be a little bit selfish and make sure that I get the things that I need for me. I just want to be happy and have a good life :)
I always recommend a good girls night out.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day everyone! My friend posted this and I thought I would pass this along!

You still need your mother....

I saw this in this months Glamour magazine - AND being a person that still needs my mom all the time I thought this was Mother's Day appropriate. Enjoy!

1. When the love of your life gives you a diamond ring.....or meets someone else.

2. The moment you pee on a stick and it's positive!

3. On the morning of your birthday when no one else is going to call until noon.

4. When someone gives you a complement so lavish you'd be too embarrassed to repeat it to anybody else.

5. When you find a lump - or she does.

6. When the kids you're babysitting (or your own kids) won't stop crying.

7. When you get your first pink-eye, food processor.... or mother-in-law.

8. When you need someone to assure you that 30 (or 40) is still really young.

9. When you need to know the exact shade to fix your under eye circles.

10. When the recipe calls for evaporated milk and you're standing in the grocery store wondering, is that a powder? A liquid? A gas?

11. When you've swung up to the sky, and it doesn't seem real until she applauds.

Happy Mother's Day Mom! Love You!

spring cleaning

This is kind of what happens every time I try to clean out my closet. I always think o but what if that comes back in style, or maybe I'll end up wearing that for this...etc etc. Maybe I'll fit back into this one day...
I'm so bad at cleaning things out.
This also applies to my life. I really need to just clean out my life. UGH!

Cinco de Mayo!

One of my favorite holidays...why? because I love Mexican food, guacamole, parties for basically no reason, and holidays where you don't have to worry about presents! haha!
Brittney, her friend Kristin, and I went to La Casita (super yummy Mexican restaurant in Springville) for dinner and then over to her friends for a little fiesta.

Don't worry that apparently I have a baby here...?

My day in the OR

So today I went and watched my uncle preform a couple surgeries, so that I could see how I liked it and if it is something that I really want to do, etc. Ummm I loved it. I thought it was so cool. Of course I'm obsessed with Grey's Anatomy and grew up watching ER with my mom, but I figured it would probably be a little different when the blood was oozing in front of my face and there was actually a body open in front of me on a table. It's not really all doctors falling in love and drama, however that's not necessarily everything I love about the shows. I did learn however, there are some similarities :) So here are some things that I learned today which in the operating room:
1. Doctors are slightly ruthless with the human body. Yes, they use precision when cutting or using their instruments, but today I watch them cut a woman's abdomen open and in order to move her stomach muscles apart they literally were pulling at them from each side like they were ripping open a christmas present. I was a little shocked. Wonder how long it takes that to heal.

2. Some women have the weirdest va-jay-jays. And some women do NOT groom. (my uncle is an obstetrician. I probably should have mentioned that.)

3. I am slightly proud of myself. First time in an operating room and I was not the least bit queasy. I think I may have found the correct profession. Cross your fingers that I actually get into school.

4. If your doctor pulls a mass the size of a cantaloup out your body, you probably waited to long to go see a doctor.

5. If you are already 40, have a mass the size of a cantaloup on your uterus, a giant cyst on your ovary, and endometriosis sites inside of your uterus you probably won't be able to have children. That woman has a lot of faith.

6. Doctors actually have the funniest conversations during surgery. They make jokes, they talk about their life, and sometimes they're even inappropriate...maybe Grey's Anatomy isn't that far off sometimes.

7. I love watching people come out of anesthesia. Need a laugh?

8. I really hope I don't have to get surgery anytime soon because, the patient just looks so helpless and vulnerable sitting there on the table right after you are put out. It would be hard to just trust that when you wake up everything is going to be ok. Plus, you're just laying there naked...so awkward. As a spectator, it honestly wasn't that weird, but I'm glad I wasn't the patient.

9. Surgery tools still look freaking primitive to me. Minus all the computer stuff and lapriscopes etc, the regular stuff just looks like it was made in the middle ages. Some of it is a little creepy.

10. Surprisingly, when they first cut into someone there is not that much blood. However, when you accidentally cut into a cyst, there is a lot of goo. I don't recommend it.

"underwear party"

So my friend Brooke got married two weeks ago, and is having her reception in Utah this weekend. She is having a bridal shower with her sister-in-laws this weekend also, but they informed her that they just don't do "those kind of parties"...meaning where you get underwear and etc as gifts...SO...we decided to have our own little shower and go to dinner at Art City Trolley in Springville. And WE DO do those kinds of parties. :)
Congrats Brookie!
